The forgotten cities
 

It is not in History nor in a museum that the great Past meets with the miserable Present but in the act of forgetting. The forgotten land of ten thousand years, and the forgotten man escaping from death, in search of a refuge, meet to form the great oblivion.
The Syrian man takes off his shoes before entering a historic stone house, perhaps as a form of apology or perhaps out of fear.. But the plastic shoes remain outside the house, in stark contrast with the stone house, not because it is plastic but rather because he is poor.. Barefoot, he protects the house and the forgotten city from the thieves of ancient ruins, and asks the Earth if it had occurred to her that she will have to protect her grandson one day, thousands of years later? Thousands of years later, the son of the modern Syrian nation, finds himself languishing in the city of his grandfathers , where his city was incapable of protecting him- For it was the Past because he fears the Future. As though the real History lives in the act of forgetting, in Oblivion for he does not lie, and not in Memory for she lies.
